MIYUKI FUKUI

I joined AED my senior year, and looking back I’m really happy that I did. The people I met in my pledge class and beyond have all been really wonderful people. I definitely received so much love and support throughout my last year of college and beyond. I was able to have great friends who helped each other when applying for medical school. At times being a pre-med at a large university like UCI was hard because of the lack of support, but the people at AED truly became my support system while I was going through the long and tedious medical school application process. Without their support getting accepted into medical school would have been much harder for me and I really appreciated everyone for helping me through the obstacles.
Being a part of AED has not only helped me professionally but it has also enabled me to give back to the AED community as well. Despite pledging 4 years ago I’m still able to keep in touch with the many people I have met through AED. It brings me immense joy to help younger AED members when they’re applying for medical school and health-related programs. Even if I have never met some of the AED actives in person, I still love to help out whenever I can, just as my seniors had done for me. I truly believe that being in AED is something that leaves a mark on your college experience and beyond. Now looking back from a perspective of a 3rd year medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine I can definitely say that joining AED was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
